Advanced Competency Pass
Anyone aged 12- 15 is able to boulder unsupervised at Durham Climbing Centre, providing they have completed an advanced competency pass. This consists of a session with an instructor to assess a young persons competency on the bouldering walls. The advanced climbing room at Durham Climbing Centre is higher than the junior wall and is used by more advanced climbers. Therefore, a greater level of awareness and respect is required. Once completed, the advanced pass means young people can come down and boulder unsupervised in the junior and advanced bouldering rooms. Users must keep this pass with them at all times and may be asked to produce it by staff at anytime.
Anyone aged 16- 18 may enter the advanced bouldering room and climb unsupervised without this pass. They will also need a signed parental consent form.
