The YCS started in Leeds for Round 1: the first boulder round started with pretty high standards and hard problems our team were amazing bringing back a 1st place podium by Sam Ward in Category Male C and a 3rd place for Sophie Boyd in Category Female A .
Round 2 was in Newton Aycliffe, where we had some amazing and challenging routes. The team were fantastic, bringing back great results for our team: three 1st place podiums by Charlotte Strugnall, Tom Dumble and Sam Ward, two 2nd place podiums for Olivia Veide and Joseph McGrother and a 3rd place podium for Sophie Stoker!
Round 3 at Newcastle was an amazing day with the challenging white mantle shelf which all category’s competed in. More podiums for the team and another tremendous performance.
Round 4 took place at the Big Depot in Leeds and again the team brought home more podiums and enjoyed a great day climbing!
The highest three scoring individuals in each category are invited to the National Final taking place on Saturday 27th April at The Depot Sheffield and Sunday 28th April at Awesome Walls Sheffield. We are thrilled that a total of seven members of the Durham Climbing Centre Youth Team have made the finals and will be competing this weekend supported by their Academy Coach Dan.
