Date: 12th July 2012

Congratulations DCC Climbers Adam, Jack and Jens!

The British Bouldering Championships took place in Sheffield’s Graves Park over the weekend of 7 and 8 July 2012.

In attendance were DCC Coach and Route Setter Adam Watson, DCC Coach Jens Signer and DCC regular and Youth Team Member Jack Graham among other talented athletes.

Adam qualified for the finals along with 7 other competitors, then four hard problems were set for all the finalists to tackle. Adam managed to top out 3 out his 4 problems attempts to finish 2nd overall; an even more amazing feat since he is only returning to full fitness following on from a lengthy back injury. Adam led all the way until the last problem, but was pipped to the post by an on form Dave Barrans. Dave managed to climb all 4 problems – had he dropped the last problem Adam would have won the competition. Very close! By finishing 2nd, Adam is now eligible to compete in the upcoming World Cup events in Munich and Paris. Well done Adam!

Adam wasn’t the only success story from the weekend. DCC climber Jack Graham competed in the youth category and finished a magnificent 1st place. At only 12 years old, Jack is a promising talent for the future. Already a member of the British Youth climbing team, Jack’s future is heading in one direction only – up!

Fellow DCC Coach Jens Signer competed in the Junior Male category, finishing in 22nd position out of 58 competitors. The junior male category was a very competitive one, and Jens did incredibly well to finish in 22nd. Congratulations Jens!
