Durham Climbing Centre hosted a fun afternoon of climbing challenges, our first event in such a long time! The slackline, hanging boulders and rope climb all made an appearance on the day for the one-off event with climbing routes from Impact Route Setting!
This amount raised has allowed us to buy a dual functioning defibrillator for Durham Climbing Centre!
As a customer facing business, our climbing centre is visited by hundreds of climbers and spectators every day. All staff hold Level 3 paediatric First Aid or equivalent. Having a defibrillator onsite and staff trained to use this device means we can offer an extra level of first aid to visitors.
If a defibrillator is used within the first minute, the survival rate can be as high as 90%. If a defibrillator is used within the first 3 to 5 minutes, the likelihood of survival is roughly 74% showing that having a defibrillator close by really makes all the difference.
