On Friday 10th October we hosted our 7th Birthday party with a fun one-night competition at DCC. All problems were based on the ‘7 Wonders of the New World’ with Route Setter Paul Carruthers working in collaboration with DCC’s Jamie to create a unique set of fun problems.
A set of 7 dynos plus a volume only problem and coffee challenge completed the set of 16 competition problems with 10 points available for a top + 5 extra points for a flash and bonus points available on selected problems.
The unique 7 Wonders Problems were a highlight for all on the night. The ‘Great Wall of China’ replica consisted of a traverse from the slab to the volcano including 7 resting points along the way each one worth 5 bonus points. Many of our guests flashed this while the younger crowd enjoyed the challenge of this endurance based problem.
One of the tunnel problems included a starting position mimicking the pose of ‘Christ the Redeemer’, up to a static dyno move and finishing off a high foot and side pull off the arête up to a positive jug.
The Taj Mahal caught everyone’s attention with two tufa volumes mimicking the pillars and a huge spherical volume at the top. These problems will not be around for long so make sure you try them while you can.
Tables were covered in party treats and winners were announced on the night. Categories were split into Open male and Open female with prizes available for podium and random spots prizes. Thanks to everyone for coming along and special thanks to photographer Ronnie Fraser for taking some superb shots on the night.
