Round Up!

Route setter Mickey Stainthorpe made the trip across to Durham from Eden Rock to set up the comp. circuit. All hail the return of the fun rock swing consisting of 2 rocks suspended from the roof leading to a finish hold on the wall. Unfortunately anyone who has not been down this weekend will not be able to try the rock swing as it goes under wraps till next time. The problems will remain up for a few weeks so come down and make the most of them.

Spot the Dyno!

At 4pm sharp on Saturday, we held an auction to win unlimited climbing for 1 year in the shape of an annual pass. We will certainly be doing this again, as an exciting 3 way bidding frenzy emerged and the pass finally sold for £190 to Andy Watmough – a bargain and half the usual price of £380! Great to see the pass goes to one of our regulars.

A batch of freshly made cupcakes emblazoned with ‘DCC’ icing, flakes and jellies were delivered by the Kirtley’s much to the delight of customers and staff! DCC team member Megan took to the camera and captured the day on film. All children attending lessons took home a party bag filled with treats, toys and cake.

James of Shiatsu Works massaged everyone’s aches and pains away as we tucked into the delicious cupcakes. Teas and coffees were never-ending as everyone soaked up the atmosphere.

If you missed out this weekend, don’t worry this years HRT Winter Boulder Series starts on Friday 15th November with 5 rounds and world cup style final – check out last years event here. Each round lasts 2 days, there’s a free supper on opening night each round and we have some of the most accomplished climbers and route setters in the business setting up the problems.

Everyone loved the idea of a spot prize competition where competitors can receive prizes for coming 1st, 6th, 12th, 18th etc. The spot prize competition will now be an annual event taking place every year on our birthday weekend – next year we will be giving away prizes for 1st, 7th, 14th and so on!
