This Membership Agreement is made between Durham Climbing Centre (“the Centre”) and the registered Member. By purchasing or signing up for a Monthly Unlimited Membership, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
The Monthly Unlimited Membership provides:
· Unlimited climbing access during standard opening hours
· Free access to Members’ Nights, selected coaching sessions, socials, and non-ticketed events
· Priority access to selected member benefits
Exclusions: Ticketed or special events (e.g. Send Fest) are not included unless otherwise stated.
Included Monthly Benefits
Guest Pass (Durham Climbing Centre)
· One (1) free Guest Pass per month
· Includes entry and standard shoe hire
· Valid for new climbers not already registered on the Durham Climbing Centre system
· The guest must arrive with and climb alongside the active Unlimited Member
· No cash alternative or rollover if unused
Independent Climbing Wall Collective (ICWC)
· One (1) free visit per month at participating ICWC walls
Retail Discount
· 10% discount on climbing shoes purchased in-centre
Additional member benefits may vary monthly and are subject to change.
All benefits are non-transferable and may not be exchanged for cash.
· Membership fees are billed monthly in advance.
· The first payment is taken on the day of sign-up and may be pro-rata where applicable.
· Thereafter, payments are collected on the 1st of each calendar month.
· Membership is continuous unless cancelled in accordance with Section 4.
If a payment fails:
· Membership access may be suspended until payment is resolved.
· The Centre reserves the right to recover any outstanding fees.
Memberships are strictly non-transferable.
All Monthly Unlimited Memberships are subject to a minimum initial term of two (2) full calendar months.
Cancellation during the minimum term is not permitted unless required by law.
After completion of the minimum term, the membership continues on a rolling monthly basis until cancelled in accordance with Section 4.
After the initial two-month term:
· Members may cancel at any time.
· A minimum of 14 days’ notice prior to the next billing date (1st of the month) is required.
· If less than 14 days’ notice is provided, the next monthly payment will be taken and the membership will terminate at the end of that billing period.
Important:
· Cancellation must be completed via the Member’s online account portal.
· Verbal, social media, or email cancellation requests are not sufficient unless confirmed in writing by the Centre.
· No refunds will be issued for partial months or unused membership time.
Members may freeze their membership subject to the following conditions:
· One (1) freeze permitted per rolling 12-month period
· Minimum freeze period: 14 days
· Maximum freeze period: 30 days
· Freeze requests must be submitted through the online membership portal
· Freezes cannot be backdated
During a freeze:
· Access to the Centre and membership benefits is suspended
· Billing will pause for the approved freeze duration
· The minimum term will be extended by the length of the freeze
The Centre reserves the right to request reasonable evidence in cases of extended exceptional circumstances.
If a Member changes age category due to a birthday:
· The new applicable rate will take effect from the month following the birthday.
If a Member is no longer eligible for a concession rate (e.g. expired student status):
· The membership will automatically transfer to the standard Adult rate.
Members are responsible for notifying the Centre of eligibility changes.
By joining Monthly Unlimited Membership, Members are enrolled in the Independent Climbing Wall Collective (ICWC), a not-for-profit network of UK climbing walls.
To administer this benefit:
· Relevant membership data will be securely shared with ICWC in accordance with UK GDPR regulations.
Participation benefits and partner walls are subject to ICWC terms.
Members must:
· Comply with all Centre rules and safety policies
· Follow all staff instructions
· Maintain a valid and completed waiver
Climbing carries inherent risk. Members acknowledge and accept this risk.
Unsafe, abusive, or inappropriate behaviour may result in immediate termination of membership without refund.
The Centre reserves the right to amend membership pricing.
· A minimum of 30 days’ notice will be provided before any price increase.
· Members may cancel without penalty during the notice period if they do not accept the new pricing.
Climbing is an activity involving inherent risk.
· Members confirm they have completed the required waiver.
· The Centre accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to personal property.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where it cannot legally be excluded.
Member data is stored securely using GDPR-compliant systems, including:
· Rock Gym Pro
· Clava
· Stripe
Data is used solely for membership administration, billing, safety compliance, and essential communication.
By entering into this Membership Agreement, the Member authorises Durham Climbing Centre to collect recurring monthly payments in accordance with these Terms.
If a Member initiates a chargeback, payment reversal, or payment dispute through their bank or card provider without first contacting the Centre to resolve the matter directly:
· The Membership will be immediately suspended pending investigation.
· Access to the Centre and all associated membership benefits will be withdrawn.
· The Centre reserves the right to recover any outstanding membership fees, administration costs, and reasonable dispute handling charges incurred as a result of the chargeback.
Where a chargeback is found to be invalid — including but not limited to disputes raised after valid notice periods, during the minimum term, or contrary to the agreed cancellation terms — the Member remains liable for:
· The original membership fees owed
· Any bank or merchant processing fees incurred by the Centre
· Reasonable administrative costs
The Centre reserves the right to pursue recovery of unpaid fees through lawful means, including debt recovery services where necessary.
Nothing in this clause restricts a Member’s statutory rights.
