Rock Stars Summer Camp ended on a high yesterday with a trip outdoors to Brimham Rocks, North Yorkshire. The curious rock formations at Brimham in Nidderdale are scattered over some 50 acres on Brimham Moor and provide a great variety of weird and wonderful shapes. Many of the gritty monstrosities suggest all manner of things, including elephants, hippos, bears, mushrooms and some are said to have associations with druids, Mother Shipton and even the Devil himself!
Eight juniors, 2 DCC staff and our outdoor activities instructor Sam from Alfresco Adventuresset off to scale the gritstone on our scrambling, bouldering and top roping adventure! The day began with some traversing and the chance for juniors to practice topping out when they climb over the top of the boulder. For many of the group this was their first trip outdoors. Along the way we came across caves and tunnels between the rocks just big enough to squeeze some eager Rock Stars through!
