Juniors visiting Durham Climbing Centre have their very own Winter Boulder Series to get involved in! The series started last year and became a huge success over the winter with over 150 juniors taking part. This year we hope it will be bigger and better!
Basically, we have 5 rounds until March finishing with an award ceremony on Saturday 22nd March. Each round there are 25 problems to try from route setter James Hunter. Every round we are giving away a free hoody to one lucky entrant picked at random, this person will be announced on the website. Problem #25 is the ‘pop n choc’ problem! Whoever completes this picks up a bar of chocolate and bottle of pop from reception! Problems 1 – 8 can be found in the junior wall area.
Round 1 kicked off yesterday with 25 green problems to try until Thursday 21st November. Juniors may attempt the problems as many times as they like and record their scores. Results will be shown live on the website scoreboard. DCC Coaches will briefly run through the competition on 7 – 12 years & 12 – 16 years lessons. Juniors are welcome to come along for drop in sessions for further points!
Here’s a note from route setter James…
‘A testing green circuit graded 4+ – 7a+ set to test route reading skills. Read the route before you attempt the problem, don’t blow the bonus point for a flash!’
