Summer Boulder Challenge Live Scoreboard

Round 1 of the Summer Boulder Challenge has kick-started the summer of love last weekend at DCC! Show your love for climbing by entering all four rounds of the challenge, and trying all 25 of easy to hard purple problems!

If you have started Round 1 already, you will know that #18 is the climb to beat! With the hardest start of all the climbs, and the most advanced moves, start the climb with a hand jam and work out of the cave with great balance and precise foot placement. So far, only a hand full of climbers have been able to flash this climb.

Taking the lead in Round 1 with a score of 275 is Aiden Beveridge in the Senior Male category. Aiden achieved top marks by flashing all the climbs. Daniel Pull is only 1 point behind on 274!

Leading the Youth Boulder Challenge scoreboard from 13-15 boys’ category is Joseph Mcgrother with the score 275 – again after flashing all the climbs. Joseph is closely followed by Sam Ward on 273 – Sam has completed all the problems flashing 23/25 problems.

In lead in the women’s Senior Female category with 161 is Clare Higgins and from the 7 – 9 girls’ category we have Charlotte Rowden – currently the leading girl. More scores are waiting to be uploaded so this could all change soon!

If you are taking part in Summer Boulder Challenge keep a look out on our Instagram and Facebook pages where we will be uploading videos and moves from the different climbs in each round. Don't forget we have 3 more rounds to go, and every round you enter you get a free raffle ticket where you could win lots of different prizes including our high performance Scarpa climbing shoes.

Some top tips for flashing the climbs from Coach Charlotte are –

  1. Taking the time to route read,

  2. Break down the climb and identify what techniques can be applied to different walls and what body positioning is required for different hand holds, this will help you to figure out different parts to the climb and know what to expect before you use your first attempt, the all-important ‘flash’

On the 31st of August, we will be having an end of Summer Boulder Challenge prize giving and raffle night for adults and juniors where we will be handing out prizes and announcing category winners. We will even be giving out FREE pizza! Make sure you come along, entry is only be £5 and a brand-new fun set will be up to end your Summer Boulder Challenge!

If you haven’t started Round 1 yet, there’s still time, just ask for your scorecard at reception!
