Durham Adventure Festival 2019

The second Durham Adventure Festival took place in Durham on 27th & 28th April and Durham Climbing Centre are excited to be part of such a successful weekend! Thanks to Gala Theatre Durham and DAF organisers, as well as all our friends who came along.

We loved seeing many familiar faces there over the weekend; the photo speaks for itself as DCC fans descended to watch some truly inspirational talks and films including the highly acclaimed Free Solo featuring Alex Honnold.

Some highlights of the weekend were talks from Sir Chris Bonington, Steve Bradshaw, Jenny Tough and, of course the DCC Staff favourite, Shauna Coxsey.

Team DCC were overwhelmed that we had the opportunity to meet Shauna Coxsey prior to her talk. Shauna was very down to earth and lovely to chat with. Her talk was also exceptional; very inspirational to all.

Team DCC met top British climber Shauna Coxsey!

Charlotte and Franco took to the stage to give out prizes!

Over the weekend, our stall near the entrance attracted visitors. The competition was to guess how many problems we have here at the centre. The correct number was 335 so massive congratulations to our winner David Mackay with 336!! David won a family induction for 2 adults and 2 children.

We absolutely loved meeting new people and introducing them to the sport we all love so much. To see the children’s eyes light up with excitement, as they learnt that they could come and climb to their hearts content was priceless.

Durham Adventure Festival will be back next year. We will let you know the dates once they are released. Hopefully we can have even more DCC climbers in next year’s photo!
